Why does arsene not go for sammy kuffor he's not gonna cost that much and he's got bags of experiance .Along with van der sar we could get them both for just over 1 million quid

Will, why do Real need to write it in a contract, he can go where he likes? Beckham 2 years ago would have been a good buy but not now. Would be better to buy SWP don't you think? Can we afford £100k a week? Arsene, centre back and soon!!!! Good rumour though Will. Need something to occupy my mind as the league title slips away.

I got a very interesting rumour. Lauren apparently WILL go to Real Madrid with it written in the deal that arsenal will get Beckham for a set price in the summer. I didn't believe it either but this came from a football agency employee friend who told me bout Campbell coming to arsenal a few weeks before it happened. It makes sense as well, with arsenal signing right-back Eboue and not giving Lauren a long term contract and also Real madrid signing Gravesen who plays in Beckham's position. It would be quite cool if it happened wouldn't it?

ronaldinho sed he would love 2 play along side the likes of henry and till after the emirates stadium is built we wont have enough for him so its more of a hope rather than rumor but shaun wright phillips and rob green or another keeper need 2 be signed

Heard our new keeper will be Van Der Sar. I'd be happy with that for a year or 2. Almunia is awful, 4 huge mistakes so far and he's only played a handful of games. Lehmann's far better but has obviously fallen out with AW and is prone to judgement rather than handling errors.

seeing how stuttgatr want lehmann if hildebrand doesnt sign maybe we could ive stuttgart lehmann and some money if we got hildebrand that would be great. i dunno why we keep on getting linked with strikers we have plenty of them.essien would be a good signing. and hopefully arsenal resign pennant he is a very good player.

Im an optimist but cant see how Chelsea will faulter this season. I can see a blip but not enough for us to cath them when we conceded to many goals and draw on a regular basis (and at home!).We will never equal last seasons record and Chelsea have added quality to their squad. If Lampard and Terry were to pick up some niggly injuries then we may have a chance.

Just seen on the www.tribalfootball.com that arsenal are looking to hijack chelseas bid for Kalou of Feyernord. The lure of toure, emboue (if thats how you spell it) and van persie will sure to attract him to arsenal, but chelsea offering stupid wages and drogba (another ivory coast player) may to prove attractive. who knows? i prefer to go for torres who steven k mentioned, but to expensive, maybe in excess of 20million.

not a rumours but juz a thought..why is arsene wenger still not giving pennant a new contract??even benitez like this guy..sometimes u need a player who are willing to run at defenders n pennant bring something different to this arsenal team..whenever he come in,he had done well..go give this guy a new contract..n yeah torres will be great for arsenal..seen the madrid game..he is unlucky not to score but his dribbling is awesome..defenders will be scared if facing against the attack of henry and torres..persie behind them..reyes/pires or ljunberg/pires/pennant attacking from the wings..awesome..we may not able to afford this guy but sometimes funny things happen..reyes is a gd example..

steven k
January 10, 2005
according to planetfootball.com, reyes has told AW to go for Fernando Torres, and to move fast before united do. that would be great to see henry and torres upp front with reyes and ljungberg on the wing. pace and power. but not sure if we can afford him though.

I think wenger is doing exactly the right thing. We dont need to buy players. I went to see arsenal v man city at highbury and was extremely impressed by senderos and van persie. Senderos is masterful in the air and makes inch perfect tackles although the only drawback was his inexperience, you could see PV7 had to help him out a lot on set pieces. Van persie is one of the most exciting young players i've seen. Unlike Henry, he really gets stuck in at the front and actually wins headers and has a phenomenal shot. Kolo would make a great right back too, lauren is clumsy in tackles and a bit pathetic in the air. Give this team a little time and they will be utterly fantastic. The best is yet to come arsenal fans!

SWP is great but i doubt we could ever afford him. Rumours are though that as soon as Keegans contracts is up he wants to leave and SWP will look elsehwere. Where else would his dad want him to go?!! What we need is Van Der Sar/Toldo. Upson back at Highbury and a player in the mould of Bergkamp/Cantona to unlock defences and allow Henry to get back up front. In a few years SWP could be that man.

i cant believe people on here are doubting reyes. the boy is class and he will show it again. he is not a flop or a bottler or another wiltord. when he started like a house on fire i didnt hear anyone complaining then. he hasnt even been here a year yet has his fair share of goals. im a big fan of reyes and cant see wenger giving up on him now especially after the trouble he took to get him in the first place. if anything he is lacking confidence but it will return. he will be a big big player for us. rumours of him going back to spain are a load of b***** if you ask me. he was the most fouled player in spain when he played for seville. im sure he can handle the physical side. lay off him!

I do agree Pires does like to dive but still do not think he is in the diving class of Totti. Also Totti is dirty with it. SWP would be a great bu, I saw him at Highbury last night and he was excelent. But to play him we have to loose either RP,Reyes or FL , neither I want. Also Defence is our number one target big time. Where have u heard Reyes is going Has anyone else got any good rumours? Happy new year

James maybe Totti is a bit of a diver but we have the king of divers in RP7. Same old same old we're getting no one as usual and before u all start posting dont forget we got Reyes in the last window, that dont mean diddley. we have some bloke called etoube from our feeder club in belgium who we got in november but apart from that nout. December 30, 2004
Totti is a ridiculous suggestion. He would be crucified here. He is to weak for our leauge and would be the biggest diver since David Ginola. We need a top quality centre back then we can move KT out to right back. That would be an amazing attacking back four who would be able to defend as well!! Especially when we are under pressure. We also need a new GK but everyone knows that. As a season ticket holder I must say that Almunia is starting to impress.........never doubt the wenger. Whilst we are on the subject Michael Owen would complete our attacking play superbly. Have a great new year

people should relax about reyes' current performances. he was great at the start of the season and in an ideal world that from would continue, but that never really happens does it?! even henry has not been as good as he usually is. when player's have a very good run of form we expect them to keep it up, but reyes will come good. trust wenger!

If we had the cash of Chelski, I´d opt for breaking the bank balance for Gigi Buffon & Nesta, I also think that if Ledley King joins us, he´d be a better player, play Euro footie regularly and win trophies, something he´s never going to achieve with Spurs. So come on Ledley, join us!

Gooner I have to disagree Reyes has got along way to go before you can even start to compare him with Thierry. As for matching Ronaldinho for skill I suggest you watch the show boat on soccer am. Im confident that Jose will come good he just needs to bulk up abit and find his best position.I think that Robin Van Persie will prove to a key part of our team by the end of the season mark my words. Reyes isn't performing as he can at the moment but he will be better than henry by next season, if not the end of this, his natural ability is rivalled only by the likes of rooney/ronaldinho, it's uncanny. To compare him with wiltord is a joke. Greeno from norwich may well be on his way to highbury in january, would be a good signing imo

I think Niemi is a bottle job. He says he never wants to leave Southampton. How can he not want to play for a bigger team? RVP does look decent. Ive been really impressed with Clichy. He looks very assured and comfortable with the ball, good passer and boy can he run.

PAT i agree with you. I have been saying this to many of the Arsenal fans. Reyes is just a bit like Wiltord. They both started very well, scored loads of goals, after that they dried up. But in Reyes case, he is young and is still learning. I think players like van Persie need a chance and when Aliadiere comes back he should get a chance. We need to resolver our midfield problems...

don't know if i'm being too harsh but does reyes seem to be a bit of a flop for us. he was good at the start, running at people i.e that mazzy run he did against united in the charity sheild which almost led to a wonder goal. i don't see him doing that now. surley v.persie deserves a good run. any thoughts on these opinions?

arsenal will sign matt upson back .arsenal have 2 clauses in the contract a./first option b./35% of sell on clause so birmingham could sell him to newcastle for 8 and only see about 4-5 million or sell him back to arsenal for 6 for example. the reasons why he was sold was wenger wanted him to gain premiership expierance and f.a rules would not allow such a move back then.newcastle bidded 3.5mill but arsenal would not have been able to negotiate such a deal with a club of the zize of newcastle then when birmingham came in with an intial 1 mill plus add ons it was the perfact club and optuinity for such a deal every ones a winner.concrete

not a rumour but an opinion. What is chelsea's and Mourinho's problem, why has he gota come blasting out with things like our defence is shit, and that wengers tactics are messed up, i mean what is his problem, for a man who has a job that a kid could do with all the money in the world, and someone who is building a great side banking on small budgets, ok enough respect for him and porto when they won the treble, but if arsenal beat chelsea in that champions league game we would of kicked them, so Mourinho he needs to be bowing at wengers feet, coz he isa true manager and aa legend.

lehmann is a good keeper but he makes to many mistakes. i dont think they should get a new keeper because they could play stack next year and taylor or even almunia. they could really do a couple of good defenders because our defence has been shocking so far this year and hopefully if we can get a couple of good defenders hopefully we will have a bettter chance of beating manure on the 1st of feb. thats all go gunners!!

Fabregas threw the food. RVN entered the Arsenal dressing room after the game winding up the Arsenal players after last year. Arsene called him a f****** cheat and told him to get out.RVN went for Arsene,Edu stepped in and hit him.Manu security piled in and the kit man had his nose broken by security. He wanted to persue assault charges, but Arsenal dont want him to.Fergie then entered the Arsenal dressing room and started ranting at the Arsenal players,he was told to f*** off,he grabbed Fabregas, who rsponded in kind.Manu dont want any comebacks as RVN started it and their stewards were out of order.Fergie also knows he should not have entered the Arsenal dressing room.If Manu complain the kit man will pursue his claim for assault. The police know what happened.Difficult one for the FA

We been linked with Fransesco Toldo according to www.tribalfootball.com, they say that his situation is unclear at the moment due to recent specualtion of the return of sebastien frey to inter milan. wat do u guys think of this latest news? i think personally we should look for a real long term goalkeeper, like sebastien frey, bacause altho toldo is good, he is coming to an age where he will lose it soon plus his similar age to leamann

We lost guys, it's football and it happens, but at least our boys can walk away with their heads held high. To be honest, i haven't really read into this match that much. There are no psychological blows, no power shifts, it was just a game won with a little luck, something that you see week in, week out. If you pressed me to have any opinion, i'd say this was a good thing. We've suffered at the hands of injustice, which will only cause the flame of Arsenal's passion to burn brighter. We will prevail. I have to praise Fergie though. He has, with the purchase of Rooney, finally managed to assemble the ugliest team of players in the history of football. Anyway, i'm just really looking forward to see Monsters inc pay their little visit to Highbury and receive the wrath of vengeance.

what a disgrace of a game, 1stly Riley neds to be relegated to referee bloody confrence game, coz his dicisions were absolutely rubbish, how can u call them decent decisions, because firstly ferdinand should have been sent off coz blatantly ljunberg was the last man, and secondly a stupid tactic to injured reyes who was only turning utd inside out. And that wayne rooney, his good player an all, but what a diver, what an idiot, every single time there was an incident he would be in there although it dont concern him, he is a little boy with stupid arrogance, some one needs to teach him a lesson that little gypsy. you dont see our boy wonders reyes or fabregas being arrogant, as they can easily be better then rooney. Well atleast we went down dying, no matter what we will always be da greatest team in da country, true warriors, true gladiators. Long live the wenger boyz.

I’d like to start by saying Manchester United are a team full of vicious thugs and cheats that are allowed to get away with murder because of the “hang bags” at Trafford incident last season. Referee’s are being way to lenient towards them and it beats giving them an advantage. They can play and intentionally hurt our players and reduce our players overall performance level in the match by 30-50%. That’s a fact! Look at the evidence Last season FA Cup semi final. Reyes comes on as a sub and is on fire. His everywhere, then BANG! Paul Scholes crutches into him with a very late tackle and puts out his fire. After treatment, Reyes returns to the pitch and has little of no influence as the game fizzles out and United win. Yesterdays match was again very cynical, first Reyes is taken out of the game again this time by a combination of the ugly sisters Phil and Gary Neville. Then RVN 9 takes out Ashley Cole. RVN 9 deliberately went for Cole, and caught him with his studs down the shin. Now forgive me if I’m wrong but don’t Cole and Reyes play down the left hand side. Isn’t that our main attacking threat? As anyone that plays football as a hobby knows playing with any kind of injury has a negative impact on your performance. Even a bruise or a deep cut can inhabit your performance and at this level that makes a huge difference. Alex “Red Nose, haggis eating, I hope you choke on your chewing gum Fergusmoan” is very a very sly and dark little man. He as a manager has been over taken. Wenger is a better coach and a better person. So red nose needs to use satan like tactics to win a games against us. He will deploy his thugs to hurt us, he will advise them to take dives, to over exaggerate fouls and incidents (RVN 9), he will tell his players to wind us up, to arrive late to tackles to use the crowd to there advantage. He will remind the players that ref Riley, AKA paedophile features and secret Man Utd fan. Basically they can get away with murder whereas we don’t embrace that Satanistic behaviour. We just try to play football better than the other team. Wenger was to nice in the build up to this game. We were to laid back, Henry said “if we draw we draw” well I’m sorry but that’s not good enough. We are The Arsenal and we want to win and the big games against our rivals determine who wins the league and mean a lot to the fans. Henry’s performance matched his comments. To put it nicely he was crap! Wenger’s attitude again has changed towards United. After last seasons incident Wenger became passive in the manner he spoke about united. This attitude rubbed of on some of the players not all but some. Anyone that heard him speak after the game yesterday will know his angry now. He will not be placid in his attitude towards them anymore and his mind games with Red Nose will start again. I am very happy about this and I am happy that we have been dealt with another injustice at Old Trafford. We will be much more aggressive next time we play them and we will treat it like a must win game like we should do. We will be Stronger, we will fight and we will conquer, mark my words we failed to realize it was a battle, we underestimated them, but we will win the war. That I know! P.S. Rooney is a diver, just like Pires was last season when he “dived” against Portmouths right? Let’s see if the press make a fuss about the new golden boy of English footballs cheating ways or do they just save that for the French players! Why is it so much worse when a Frenchman does it, I smell racism.

I sympathise deeply with Steven K's comments and sincerely wish i could bring myself to agree with them. Yet the simple fact is that i cannot. Arsenal's undisputed superiority within football's domestic sphere has done little to propel their European form into such Nirvana-esq levels. Chelsea, damn their souls to Hades, seem reluctant to dwell in Arsenal's shadow as far as the Continental campaign is concerned, and have displayed a dogged determination somewhat lacking within the Gunner's own footballing escapades. So what is to be done? I'm afraid Arsenal, much in the same way as world war 1 was won, will have to dig defencive trenches in defence and 'dig deep'. We must strive to pull out the results even if such triumphs are won at the expense of glamour and pinache; for i assure you, such victories will be anything but pirique.

Heard of so many replacement, albelda, carrick ( apparently sorting out terms with him today according to sublimefootball.com) , alonso, Mascherano, maniche etc , but i thought cesc played well, and we still have edu, so maybe we should stick to them or get carrick (would be rare englishmen i the squad) or/and Mascherano whos only 20. imagine that, taylor 23, senderos 19, hoyte 20, toure 22, clichy 19, cole 22, pennant 21, cesc 17, flamini 20, Mascherano 20, carrick 23, reyes 21, henry 26, alliadiere 21, lupo 19. the future of arsenal, if we can gel these together, what a team it would be for decade, and in the new stadium, forget real or utd or milan, arsenal will be toooooo gud

Real Deny trying to sign PV4 Real Madrid director of football Emilio Butragueno has denied reports in Marca that the club are trying to sign Paddy ;). PV4 is replaeable. no one is bigger than arsenal. only at real then u can find that a player is actually bigger than the club itself. arsenal is still arsenal even without PV4. but he is one of the best player th don the colours of the gunners!

UNDERSTAND WHY HE WOULD WANT TO GO!?!?!? Viera was nothing when he joined this club - Arsenal and Arsene made him and now he earns 60,000 a week for kicking a ball around a pitch (even if he does do it very well)60,000 paid for by my ticket fees and he hasn't even got the decency to come out and tell the fans whether he's going or not. And here is a little prediction if he does leave - Real Madrid to finish second to Valencia in La Liga after losing the champions league final to a sol campbell captained, Maniche driven and Thierry Henry/Jose Reyes Killing Machiene!!! We are the greatest club on earth and if PV wants to remain a part of us then fine - if not, well then paddy, just piss off to spain, the sooner the better!

calm down on the vieira situation! you can understand why he might want to go, he wants to win the champs league and the odds are that real are more likely to do that than arsenal. the extention of the contract just means we'll get a lump of money instead of nothing. i would prefer £30 mil and morientes to a half-hearted and unhappy vieira, who wouldn't perform as well as the brilliant and inspirational vieira we saw last season. hes been with us for 8 years and given us all we can aske for, maybe its time to move on for him, i want him to stay but transfers happen.

More than a rumour as it will happen about 20 yards from my office in a hospital. To avoid getting struck off (!) I cant say where etc, but 2 confirmed medicals arranged for AFC signings. One today at 5pm and one on Thursday at 8am. I will let you know as soon as I see them come in..........I won't be going home early today then!!

Wenger today says that Pat is not for sale, Camacho says that he hasn't approached Vieira and that Emerson is his first choice. HOWEVER, ANR website reckons that he's cleared out his locker and personal belongings from the Colney (our training ground) and that he's off. The Arseblog also reckon that he's on his way via a reliable source. Looks like none of us will rally know for sure until the Man himself comes clean and let's us all know. Say it isn't so Pat! On a brighter note, Jeffers got a hat trick today for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If Vieira does go then we should sign Gattuso of Milan. Much talk at the Barnet game today and the general view is that Vieira has decided to leave! I hope I'm wrong but it's not looking good. Howevr if he does go I think Gattuso would be a good player to bring in. He's an awesome ball winner and has said on many occasions he'd love to play in Britain again. I hate the idea of being left with Gilberto. Vieira has been carrying this guy for two years. We will need a real powerhouse type player who can command the midfield and dominate opponents. Just Wish Vieira had sprung this on us a month ago when we would still have had time to get Davids for free!

All this doom and gloom, Patrick’s going nowhere, he's Arsenal through and through, we did well last year and the winners of the Champion’s league showed that anyone can win it, it will be us this year, the team is growing all the time in, and Patrick know this. Rest easy, He's at the best club in Europe already so why leave

July 08, 2004
Sean, Thanks for clearing it all up about the kit. The kit is actually launched tomorrow and according to Arseblog and some others, a grand saving of £15.00 can be made if you purchase it from Asda! On the transfer front, Real are back in for Vieira again (yeah right!) and Ray Parlour will not be offered a new contract when the existing one expires next season according to his agent, Steve Kutner. So he either moves on making the club some money and getting a big signing on fee and wages now or he sees out the year, gets a testimonial and a free transfer with possibly less wages as he'll be a year older. I think the emergence of Cesc Fabregas, Pennant and all would see him play less and less this season so I personally wouldn't be surprised to see him move on. Boro are very interested though I reckon he'll want to stay in London. Not a great day all round really for Mr. Parlour, a good one for his ex Mrs though. Sorry Ray!

sean
July 07, 2004
not a rumor, but about the kit. even arsenal.com is reporting that the yellow will be the third choice for the upcoming season with the new blue being the second. this is how is has been for the last few seasons. new home strip every 2 years, and a new away strip as the second strip pushing the previous to the third slot, but not discarding entirely. this is true of the gold from 2001/2002, the blue 2002/2003, yellow 2003/2004, and now the new blue 2004/2005. i like the yellow stitching on the new kits, but i am a little disappointed that the new home shirt is not more of a unique nike design and is more or less along the total 90 design. i feel we're good enough to deserve our own kit design...more than just white sleeves and red body applied to the standard kit.....but nonetheless i like it. does anyone know what the new shorts, socks, and goalkeeper kits will be? and how did anyone get these images when arsenal is not even releasing them until thursday?

Apparently we've signed Lupoli and Almunia. Lupoli is a 17 year old wonderkid from Parma (who are very angry he's been poached by the way) and Almunia (hope I've spelt it right) is/was the Celta Vigo keeper who has been out on loan all season. Bernard, thanks for the info, a friend of mine though reckons he has it on good authority (the match programme no less) that the yellow kit will still be the preferred choice for this season(I don't believe him either).

Not a rumour but an answer to Charlie. No, you're wrong; the new blue kit is our main away kit next season (2004/5)so becomes the 'second' strip (the red and white one being as usual our 'first' kit). The yellow kit that was used last season (2003/4) as our main away kit (thus being our 'second' kit last season) will next season (2004/5) be our 'third' kit. Unless we get Barcelona in the Champions League, it's quite possible the only place the yellow kit will be used at next season is West Brom, where in recent years we always seem to not use the home strip, but won't be able to wear the blue one due to the blue in WBA's home strip.

Right then, no one responded to my question about the away kit(s) so I reckon I'll kickstart the page with some rumours, Newsnow have a story saying that Spurs are to warn off Arsenal from making any attempt to poach Ledley King after his performance alongside Sol in Portugal. The Arseblog is running a rumour about Morientes coming in a possible player swap (Freddie? Surely not!). But as Arseblog rightly points out, our Manager is doing punditry for French TV in Portugal so it's unlikely he'd be up to anything.......Would he? Tavlaridis has signed for Lille by the way.

what rumors of a freddie for ljungberg deal? with kanu leaving, we could afford someone like figo now...more than before. same goes for kluivert. it would be a log jam at striker with henry, bergie, reyes and van persie, but i have a feel van persie may be a winger more than an out and out striker. get kluivert, so cheap and with kanu gone we could afford another 40,000 a week wage. we need another center back as cygan is supposedly looking for a move away from highbury, possibly back to france due to lack of first team playing time. with keown leaving, we would then have lost 3 center backs. senderos would be an occasional fill-in, but not someone to count on for continuous aid as of yet. could clichy be cover in the middle? and what of this spanish keeper....i haven't heard much of him lately. supposedly around 4m for him, so why not an exta 1-1.5 for frey? that much has got to be available if 4 is available. i would welcome a freddie move for cash or a player, as pennant, van persie, edu and parlour can all fill in. i think a midfield of edu, gilberto, viera, and pires would work fine, while working in pennant and van persie. we have cesc coming through probably next year, so i would rather cash in on freddie now before his stock slips. he just hasn't been the same. but i know wenger hates to lose players. who knows.

Linked with yet another spanish wonder kids, known in spain as da new luis figo, he plays for Mallorca and his names Carlos Carmona. The Mallorca midfielder is being compared to a young Luis Figo in some quarters and is an Under-17 team-mate of Highbury prodigy Cesc Fabregas. I have heard many people that Arsenal want to buy Owen, Gerrard, Woodgate, Morientes, Guilly, Mexes, Beckham, Trezeguet and now Kluivert. Now come on, we all know that Arsenal is a club with the tightest of budgets. Michael Owen (Liverpool) £12M: It has been reported that Arsenal have made a bid a few weeks ago, and maybe that could be true now that Gerard Houllier has been sacked. Owen will wait until Liverpool will sign a top class manager to sign his contract. But we already have world-class strikes: Henry, Bergkamp, Reyes. Owen seems to have dried up of goals at the moment and maybe Arsenal can revive him with Arsenals One-Touch football. LIKELYHOOD: 30% Steven Gerrard (Liverpool) £15-20M: A world-class midfielder but again too expensive. Patrick Vieira has said that Gerrard is one of the best midfielders that he respects. And with a pairing of Gerrard and Vieira that will make you scared. BUT Gerrard is very fiercely loyal to Liverpool BUT Gerrard has always liked Houllier and with him gone, who knows. BUT AGAIN, there are other teams who would like him e.g. Man Utd and Chelsea. Both of those teams have the money to tempt him away. LIKELYHOOD: 5% Jonathon Woodgate (Newcastle Utd) £10M: An injury-prone defender that will make a rock solid defensive pairing with Campbell. But as said above very injury-prone and other teams are interested in him e.g. Man Utd. He would like to go to a club that is playing regular Champions League football. LIKELYHOOD: 30% Fernando Morientes (Real Mardrid) £17.5M: £17.5M is way out of reach for Arsenal. He is a very good and talented player but too expensive. Arsene Wenger is known not to sign well known players. He only signs "Gems (quote from Wenger)". LIKELYHOOD: 40% Ludovic Guilly (Monaco) £7-15M: Guilly has been linked with a move to Arsenal since he has been known to ask Henry how it is playing at Arsenal. Obviously he hasn’t seen the Unbeaten Champions play. But he would be a great player that could play along side Vieira in an attacking style play. LIKELYHOOD: 50% Phillipe Mexes (Auxerre) £5M-Free: Mexes would have been a great addition to the side as we have lack of cover at center back. He was interested in Arsenal and Arsenal was interested in him. But Mexes has already signed for Roma so he is now gone. LIKELYHOOD: 0.1% David Beckham (Real Madrid) £20M or £8M+Ljunberg: There have been many rumors linking Beckham with Arsenal with Ljunberg going the other way. Beckham has expressed himself saying that he is staying at Madrid. Wenger has said he is interested but he is too expensive. Also linked with Chelsea, who has the money to nick him away, LIKELYHOOD: 20% David Trezeguet (Juventus) £5M+Ljunberg - There have been many rumours that Arsenal are very close to signing Trezeguet with Ljunberg going the other way. Very interesting but as said before we already world-class strikers. Ljunberg has dried up lately and could be on his way and Trezeguet is another world-class Frenchman that would be a great addition to the team. LIKELYHOOD: 60% Patrick Kluivert (Barcelona) £1-5M: Has been linked with a move to Arsenal for a long time now and could come true as Barcelona will not be offering contracts too a number of players, one being him. Kluivert has always wanted to move to Arsenal but Wenger said he was too expensive years ago. He is dead cheap now so watch this space. LIKELYHOOD: 70% CONCLUSION: UNBEATEN Arsenal are known too tight pocketed and don’t sign well known players, so Wenger will only buy Gems that he sees during Euro 2004. We also have many young stars coming through, most noticeable Jereme Alaidiere, David Bentley, and Ryan Smith. Alaidiere needs more time to play as does Bentley and Smith. Ryan Smith (A secondary school friend) has excited Wenger with his pace and trickery (so hard too stop). Bentley appears to be going out on loan but is a great young player. Aliadiere only seems to like playing at Highbury. I went and watched Martin Keowns testimonial and he was flying when playing along side Jose Antonio Reyes. With the new signings of Reyes and van Persie, Arsenal is looking stronger by the minute. I would like to see now-a-free-agent ex-Gunner Marc Overmars back at Arsenal. He was still the same pacey and great passer at Keowns testimonial. Like the old days.

Has anyone realised how much bitching Van Horseface has been doing. He's running his mouth like he's all that. He criticises Wenger, then Van Persie and now he's having a go at Arjen Robben, all in the space of two days. We should get big Sol and Viera to go sort Van Nistelpig out.

Theres Rumours that morientes may well be signing for arsenal, but its reported that he would cost around 17mill for him, and i dont think arsene wengeer would want to spend that much on him, but if we are then why not add an extra 3 and we can get shevchenko, imagine that, henry and shevchenko, it will no doubt be the best strikeforce.

Now did u c what happen to r carlos in that game, shit--henry u r faster than maurice green. MENDY WHAT A PLAYER--HE IS surley needed 4 right back position. oh-not forgetting the ever green even if not in a Real Madrid shirt-im talking about MORIENTES 19shirt all those lose balls from HENRY in the box he can pounce on them.Sorry Wiltord u gotta go. One last thing i hope arsenal get a new keeper coz lehmann is kaak.I know its 2 much 2 ask 4 but its 4 the best(if we want to win champions league). Lebza signing off from South Africa!!! Hola

I dont think there are many young strikers with as much potential as Aliadiere. When he graduated from clairfontaine, it was said that he was the best to graduate from the French academy along with Henry & Anelka. His got everything, Pace, the same agility levels as Raul, amazing finishing, movement workrate, plays for the team, can score from amazing angles etc. Where he lacks is simple to see at the moment, its his strength and confidence at playing in the Premier League. However he is 21 years old. Remember not so long ago before Man Utd one the league with 'kids' in 1994 & youngster like Ronaldo & Owen changed how we judge youngsters, how young 21 was considered for a footballer? Aliadiere like Bentley & Hoyte needs to hit the wieghts or just let nature take its course, because once he gets the strength to hold players off defenders and the confidence he needs that he can score goals in the Premier League he will blossom. i believe his outstanding finishing ability along with other attributes he has will take him to the top. People forget that he keeps getting injured, if he stayed fully fit one season he would make a impact & im sure he could make a massive impact. He was outstanding int he Carling Cup & if he wasn't injured against miserablebourgh, we might have went to the final. So lets give the kid some support and appreciate how hard he works when his and and does play. Our support will help him feel appreciated and that could be the catalyst to some great form. His already better than Wiltord & Kanu, so if you look at it that way we've gained for next season. I'd also like to comment on who we should sign in the summer. Van Persie is a great signing im sure of this, but i still feel we need a centre back. The cover for Campbell & Toure is Senderos (who is brilliant from what i have seen & should share some of his strength with Aliadiere) and Cygan. Now forgive me for saying this, well actually dont, but, if Campbell is injured for a couple of months or longer next season we will suffer if Cygan is called up to replace him. He will never be good enough for Arsenal and the sooner he is gone the better. His 30 now and he cant improve! his at his peak and his lack of guts and pace mean he is a liability. I've heard we want Mexes & he wants us, so if we sign him and we should! We will have a set of the best youngster in Europer maybe as good as Ajax 1994-1995. Stack, Toure, Cole, Senderos, Hoyte, Pennant, Van Persie, Reyes, Aliadiere, Svard, Bentley, Ryan Smith (<----- only 17 and Wenger rates him as outstanding) & lastly Mexes. Now that team oozes potential and mixed with the experience Vieira, Campbell, Henry, Pires, Ljungberg, Edu & Gilberto, i believe can be the blood that the heart (the key players henry vieira & co.pumps around. They will improve and learn off the best in world. Campbell best centre half, Vieira best midfielder General & King Henry need i say more. SO LETS SIGN MEXES PLEASEEEEEEEEEE and add one last piece to the express train to Ashburton Grove. Ken

I still disagree... there are far better young players out there than aliadiare that arsenal could easily snap up. Speaking of which, i saw Bernard Mendi plying for France last night... very impressive, he looked a far better right back than our dear old Ralph - maybe Wenger should make a move for him! Taling of the France Brazil game... did anyone see King Henry burn past Roberto Carlos so fast it looked like carlos was running backwards?... Frightening!!

May 21, 2004
I totally disagree with you O.G. in my opinion Aliadiare although not reaching the heights of Henry (which Reyes could better) will be Henry's strike partner in the French side within a few years. The last few games I've seen him play in his movement and touch and alround play has been very impressive and hes got the potential to be a really top class goalscorer and player. spanish press reckoning today that morientes if more likely to be going arsenal than chelsea. also heard rumours about secret deal with davids as deal to barca not being turned into permanent

Not so much a rumour as a fact... Morientes has all but completed his move... to Chelsea! We didn't need him anyway, we have Jose Antonio who will be twice the player Morientes has ever been. I very much doubt wenger will be rushing out to buy anyone this summer - we already have signed Van Persie and trust me, he will be one hell of a good player! I would, however, like us to sign another striker - i don't think Aliadiare is good enough and with Kanu and Wiltord being released we will be lacking quality cover - personally i think we should not loan out David Bently - he is talented enough to be pushing for a first team place and he is certainly a better bet than Aliadiare!

Not a rumour but just a opinion if our beloved freddie does opt for a tan than awsome football I would'nt mind that Rommadhale from PSV, he's got lightening pace, skillful and still fairly young. Still getting the feeling that every supporter no matter how much effort Lauren has put into becoming a right back would like to see someone better maybe that trabelsi from ajax or even mexes even though he play's as a centre back. could toure find another new position hope not but we will see.

May 12, 2004
I agree, Lehmann is a great keeper and the proof is staring you right in the face WE ARE UNBEATEN. Anyway, mexes is the most likely signing over trabelsi since he's french, of course. I really dont think freddy is going. Wenger really is adamant about not selling players. He has spent years creating the perfect formula although i do agree that Giuly is real, real class so i won't be too aggreived if theres a right wing swap. Great attacking options, kolo's a winner and only sure weakness is Lauren cos let's be honest, his distribution and crossing is pretty terrible.

End of season review.... Mexes would be a fantastic signing (his a French John Terry) French meaning better! I've heard that he is 90% an Arsenal player (keep it locked for news as it breaks). Trabelsi wouldn't be needed if we signed Mexes, unless Lauren was sold and Hoyte wasn't rated by Sir Arsene. As for Giuly, he is class. I'd say his better than Ljungberg who i feel has gone downhill over the last two seasons. Maybe he overperformed when we won the double in 2002!What do you think? If Real Madrid offer £8-10 million for Freddie i think we should bite there hands off for that and replace him with Giuly with Pennant as cover. It's obvious that we need to get better down the right hand side. If we do then we will CAN we the champions league next season. If not i don't believe we can, as we rely to much on the left flank for goals and the top teams can stop as from playing. Add a creative speedy winger to the right flank mix in Reyes who will surley improve next season, to a owen & rooney combained level (his nearly there already) and somebody (maybe Van persie) to become a true aerial threat from crosses and we will be unplayable even for the top european sides. But we need to score from crosses, its essential. You can't win the Champions League if you can't score from crosses. Look at Monaco for proof of this. There are question marks of Lehman and his been answering them since after the Tottenham game with some fine perfomances. I rate him as a great keeper better than Seaman was in his last 5 years at Arsenal by a mile. His the tactician behind the strongest defence in the league, Frey is to young to offer what Lehman offers. Lehman's a great 'goalkeeper' whereas Frey is a talented shop stopper. We wouldn't stayed unbeaten with Seaman or Frey in goal. So give Lehman some credit and respect! So its Giuly and Mexes in with Jeffers, Van Bronckhorst, Keown, Kanu (thank god) Wiltord (thank god again) and possibly Ljungberg out. We have Senderos to replace Keown, Reyes to replace Wiltord, Aliadiere to replace Kanu, Glichy has replaced Van Bronchorst, and Giuly to replace Ljungberg. We then have Pennant coming back from his loan at Leeds with 1 years playing experience the the Premiership. The squad is very young and very stong. We have a great mix of young and experienced talent and we have the best coach in the world at getting them to play well together. Anyone got anything to add??????The future red, the futures Arsenal. P.S. Chelsea will sign Rio Ferdinand and David Beckham according to a soure. GREAT NEWS!!!

lets face it - freddie 4 becks would be a great deal. freddiehas played well for us, and aided our premiership campaigns but he is no where near as good as becks, and becks is world class. the only reason not to do this deal would be for financial reasons, such as his large wage bill. we may only keep him for a season and then sell his to chelsea 4 a fortune anyway.

Make of this what you will....a football agent mate who has been V reliable recently (told me about reyes a week b4 the event & similiarly about van persie last week) says that the Beckham to Arsenal rumour has some serious legs & that enquiries HAVE been made. Freddie would go the other way & the board would have to find a further £20m, BUT that they are considering it because they reckon they could make that back in replica shirt sales within 2 years..... food for thought. I personally would hate to see freddie go, but at the same time, someone who can pass so early & so accurately over defences would give us even more variety..... We play through them on the left, & play quickly crossfield over the defence on the right onto henry's pace?.....sounds pretty feckin good to me.... if nothing else, i'd love it to happen coz it would break the hearts of Man Utd fans.

Arsene Wenger was today linked with audacious transfer swoops for three of the Premiership's most highly-rated players. The Sun reported that the Arsenal manager - boosted by his successful Premiership campaign - is lining up a sensational £25million double move for John Terry and Steven Gerrard. Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror reported that Wenger is ready to offer £12m for Liverpool striker Michael Owen. The apparent bids for the Liverpool pair will stand a better chance of success if Liverpool fail to secure fourth place in the league and miss out on the Champions League for a second successive year. Uncertainty surrounding Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri, who seems certain to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer, could help any bid for England defender Terry.

This stuff is crazy, believe it or not. The Sun reports Shaun Wright Philips - son of our Great Ian Wright, wants a move from Man City. Arsenal is lining up a £7 million swoop for him..and our own Dennis Bergkamp supports that notion! I think Shaun is only so so and i don't think Monsieur Wenger would splash that kind of money on him. Check this out though, PinkFootball reports Madrid ready to do a transfer with Beckham going to Highbury and Freddie going over to Real. If rumours about Freddie being unsettled are true, I would rather take the england captain. Freddie has been an amazing asset to the CLUB but one has to question his commitment after his earlier interviews with the press. Beckham would be an interesting prospect and could lift the CLUB with his charisma. I can imagine what Wenger can turn him into already. Will there be a shocker of a transfer season coming up? Let's just hope there will be no moves for Henry, PV4 and RP7. I want Gilberto to stay as well.

Kalispera, Greek Gooner. What I meant was Reyes has allegedly (though my only info comes from the papers) commenced on a very high rate of pay (£40k was the story) because he is not being treated as a youth breaking into first class football, but more as someone who has already proved himself. Whilst it is not true he has made it as yet, it's a mark of how confident Wenger is in him plus the competition from other clubs for his services, notably I suppose, Chelski, that forced Wenger's hand and persuaded him to get him early, and to pay top dollar to match the competition. Personally I think he will be proved absolutely right - the signs are already there; this player will be a sensation for us. That's what I meant by 'exception'.

what do u mean reyes is an exception? how much does he get paid. And i completely agree that he deserved a goal against portsmoth, and i would say he was our man of the match left of the people on the pitch at the end

I agree that we are now unlikely to be snapping up Kluivert for the reason s given earlier. He may have been on the wish list a few seasons ago, but the signing of Reyes and the policy of buying young players on modest pay (to which Reyes is in fact an exception) and nurturing would be contravened by such a transfer. Similarly I can't see why we should involve ourselves in a dispute with Ajax over whether they are due a fee or not for Trabelsi, a highly rated 27-year old at the peak of his career. On the fixtures front, I would strongly favour United in the final of the FA Cup rather than the semi; this is entirely to do with the fixture congestion AmericanGooner has alluded to, which leads me to think that if we have to meet them on May 22nd after the League has been decided (hopefully in our favour), we can focus on beating them that much better and we will be fired up to do so even if - or especially if - we are in the CL Final as well four days later. I view this as far less of a lottery than getting them in the semi. So Tranmere or Milwall up next for me, please.

POSTED HERE DUE TO UNAVAILIBILITY OF SUPPORTERS FORUM: While I wouldn't state it in like manner, I would be surprised if we got Kluivert. He doesn't fit Wenger's modus operandi. He likes to get players who are a young talent who will fit in with the spirit of the club. Although there have been exceptions (Suker for example, a stop gap but older than Wenger usually buys strikers) it remains the constant factor in him. **** I was hoping Reyes would have scored. He deserved it his the workrate. Arsenal seemed on another planet. Imagine if the weather and pitch were more condusive to better footie? **** So do we want Man Utd now or in May? Pros and cons. If we get them in the Semis, it will come in a very tough run. We'll play them March 28th, then again on April 4th, then we'll play a CL quarter final game on or about April 7th, then Liverpool April 10th and Newcastle April 12th!!!! The week could go wonderfully great and sew up the title and see us on track for the CL semis or it could see us out of the CL possibly and putting the title back into play. Then again if we get Man Utd in the final, we'll have to play them 4 days before a possible CL final. They would LOVE to stop any sort of treble and will be all out to get any kind of silverware if they are already knocked out of the league and CL. Wouldn't it be ironic if we are to play them or Chelsea in a CL final? Chelsea playing them a few weeks before in the league? Wow! Strange days.

Lee u seriously know nothing about AFC. We can not afford big wages, kluiverts wants something like 90 or 80 k which we dont have, and he is too old and not good enough, and is a dick head

Dear Mr Gleiber, Is it just me, a rep of the above named group, or is the Supporters' Forum non-operational and if so what is the reason and when if ever is it likely to be reinstated? While the Forum is under repair, would you permit us to use the Rumour Mill for football chit chat normally more appropriate for the other site?

Lee, how do you know Yaya Toure is just on a season long loan with the Ukranian club? Is it a credible source, or were you just being hopeful, as every report I read said it was a permanent deal for four or five years?

I guess we still could see some signings this summer but i don't see the values of the players more than 10m GBP.We are in the age where Chelski will try to put their nose in whatever players we are interested in,we cannot afford any hesitation and our previous wait-and-see policy.Look at Reyes,we sign him in the nick of time before Chelski try snatching him.I still think we could see Van Persie.PTBAG!

Probably no one coming until next summer. Probably just one squad boosting signing, no one in the quality of Reyes league.

lee
February 25, 2004
to the below and ather people about administration... we will not go into administration or sign more than 2 possible players at a time becuase of the new stadium but the thing is all the revenue we will get will mean we can pay chunks of the stadium off like a mortgadge but have £20-30 even 40 millions to spend in the transfer window - FACT

us gunner - Quirez has admired Henry for a long time and we all know this i am a sports editer for a sweedish colum and we have had so many rumours about henry to real its unbeliveable but ive had enough henry has said on several occasions he is bored with all these rumour he will not and shall not be ging anywhere becuase he is happy at arsenal and he see's it as betral to leave the man and team who made him he will definatly stay i would bet my house on it, also Wenger will stay he has said he has 18months left and see's no point on renewing a contract with that lenth of time but he said that the new stadium will be built 2006 and he said he will definatly be there becuase after arsenal he cannot think about being at any other club but arsenal

what is all this quieroz talk about signing henry or ruud? why can't real keep their hands off our players. and all this arsene talk about waiting to renew his contract till later. reyes is great for the future...even next year. but with kluivert seemingly imminent, is henry expendible? i mean he is not replaceable....except raul or zidane coming the other way, but i could never see this happening. its just very nerve racking. its fucking feb. and already our best player is linked with real. please....a boost of confidence.

matthew mcdine haha missed Cole obviosly luaren will have to move his shoes and get Toure in there and cole on the left i rate Toure more than Luaren but im not arsene wenger.. and Real have reportedly offerd Figo in exchange for Freddie, Figo has 18months left on his contract and wants his future sorted but he is 31 unlike frddie is still young i say stick with red fred.. alson Reyes on tribal football says he will ame arsenal bigger than REAL MADRID and goes on to say he would never move there his dream move was arsenal and he wnats to saty for good well lets hope his performance inpoves ive not been as impressed as i thought but maybe im just impatiant we all know Wenger doesnt make mistakes

Hey y'all, I heard 2day that Barca are interested in Edu for £5million + Dein has already talked with the Barca vice-president about the possible transfer. Whether or not this is a link to our possible purchase of Kluivert will b left very much to our own imaginations..Furthermore, R.Madrid seem keen on our Freddie. But he isnt for sale for anything lower than £15 million, but thats never been a problem for Madrid in the past, has it?

so next season could look like this........ Frey, Luaren, Cambell, Pique, Toure, Pires, Okocha, Vieria, Ljungberg, Reyes, Henry and on the bench Lehman, Kluivert, Edu, Bentley/Aliadere, Van persie, Gilberto/Edu what a team ey!! also heard a on tribal football that Edu is a big target for barca and arsenal want £5mill for him i dont wnat to see him go he is a quality player

OUT - gunner4life^Gilberto will not leave i doubt that alot, brekamp wants another year, parlour should go he is an average player and needs a average club i.e villa £1-2mill, Wiltord to PSG free, Kanu to Quatar free, Keown will retire or do a Luzhny and go to a bottom team for around £500,000 , Van b to Barca for around £2-3mill, jeffers to Everton £3mill and as i have stated before guner4life i said that we have another £10mill to spend and that is without money in for sold players david dien confirmed(tribalfootball)! so IN -Frey £6-7mill, Kluivert£1.2mill or Van B deal, Gerard Pique another whiz-kid from barca and will be cheap, Van Persie £5mill or less, JJ Okocha - bosman,

gunner4life
February 06, 2004
Don't forget that the entire transfer kitty has not been blown ,the intitial payment for reyes was around 10m the rest of the money will be instalments to do with appearences goals and international call ups. that means that there is around 10m left and i think most of that on frey 7m then the bargains kluivert 1.25m jj zip and maybe mexes for around the same as kluivert becuase of contractual obligations that were made. People likely to leave kanu, wiltord parlour i've heared to villa, pennant which would be a shame, van b which looks definate, I must say with the borough saga over now keown who's been rock over the years had a stinker so maybe his card is marked, gilberto he may do a quite and near efficent job but he has not impressed me enougth to play next pv4 parlour and edu in front of him I think,

Morientes linked to us + at 27 he wud b a good replacement 4 Bergkamp, but do we really need him if we've only just signed Reyes? Morientes wud certainly make Reyes feel more at home in England, but i have doubts surrounding this rumour. Also, Jay-Jay is strongly linked. We dont hav that much £, to buy new players this summer but Okocha is on a Bosman...now that wud b a gr8 signing.
